The Nonprofit Crunch: Financial and Community Pressures in an Era of Uncertainty

The Order of the Engineer recognizes the pride and great responsibility that comes with entry into the engineering profession. Each year, at ceremonies across the United States, graduating and registered engineers accept the Obligation of the Engineer, which is comparable to the Hippocratic Oath taken by medical doctors. Those who take the pledge promise to uphold the high standards and ethical responsibilities of the engineering profession. A stainless steel ring worn on the fifth finger of the working hand symbolizes each initiate’s commitment to uphold the Obligation of the Engineer. "Centum" is a weeklong showcase of lighting inspired from century-old design by nine RIT industrial design students. The exhibition will take place in Anderson Alley Studios (suite 401) — 250 N. Goodman St. Rochester, N.Y. An opening reception is set for 6-9 p.m. Friday, May 2, with a closing event on tap for 5-6 p.m. Thursday, May 8. All are welcome.

RIT's visual arts-all grades MST program is hosting its annual Artist Teacher Invitational at Joy Gallery (498 West Main St., Rochester 14608). The exhibition is a showcase of work by K-12 students the RIT artist teachers taught throughout the academic year.

RIT's School of Film and Animation presents the best live-action and animated student films made this academic year during a screening at Dryden Theatre, located at the George Eastman Museum (900 East Ave. Rochester, N.Y. 14607). A Q-and-A with the filmmakers will follow.
