Women's tennis suffers loss to Skidmore in Liberty League opener

ROCHESTER, NY - The RIT women's tennis team (4-2, 0-1 Liberty League) dropped its Liberty League Conference opener, 9-0 to defending champion Skidmore College (5-0, 4-0 Liberty League) from the Midtown Athletic Club Sunday afternoon.
 
Skidmore would take the first three doubles points. At first doubles, Anne Taylor and Kristen Zablonski put up a good battle against Risa Fukushige and Renee Karchere-Sun, before falling 8-4.
 
In singles play, Skidmore continued its strong play to record the shutout win. Audrey SooHoo and Claire Casalnova had the close match at fifth singles, before SooHoo won 6-4, 6-4. Jackie Ahn secured the shutout with a 6-4, 6-3 win over Kirsten Auble at sixth singles.
 
RIT returns to action next Saturday, March 9 with a home meet at 2 p.m. against Union College from Midtown Athletic Club.
