Six Tigers earn All-Liberty League Baseball honors

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Six members of the RIT baseball team were named All-Liberty League on Tuesday. Junior starting pitcher John Arnold, graduate student reliever Eric Sipling, junior shortstop Randy Dodig, and junior outfielder John Bagley all claimed second-team recognition, while graduate student first baseman Ian Libby and senior outfielder Chris Reilly earned honorable-mention citations.
 
Arnold earned his second-straight award after finishing fourth in the Liberty League and leading the Tigers with a 3.07 ERA. He also finished fourth in the Liberty League with a career-high 57 strikeouts over 10 starts and 58 innings. Arnold struck out a career-high 13 against Rutgers-Newark (Mar. 17) and also earned a complete game four-hit victory in a 5-1 win over Skidmore in the Liberty League Tournament (May 11).
 
Sipling finished fifth in the conference with a 3.18 ERA in a team-high 15 appearances, including three starts, going 6-0 with two saves over 45.1 innings. The righty held opponents to a conference-low .180 batting average while also finishing first for fewest hits allowed (29) and runs allowed (18).
  
Dodig played in all 37 games this season, hitting .311 in 151 at-bats as the regular leadoff man. The left-handed hitter led the team in walks (20) and tied for second in doubles (10) and runs scored (32) while also finishing among the team's top five in hits (47) and on-base-percentage (.400). In the field, Dodig was second in the Liberty League in assists (108) and helped turn 18 double plays.
 
Bagley hit a team-high .408 this season while also leading the Tigers in on-base-percentage (.459) and on-base-plus-slugging (.967). He also finished second in hits (53), RBI (31) and slugging percentage (.508), while tying for second with 32 runs scored. The right-hander won Liberty League Performer of the Week on April 17 after a week that included a 4-for-5 performance with seven RBI and three runs scored, and a double against St. Lawrence.
 
Libby tied for eighth in the conference with 56 hits while finishing second on the team with a .359 batting average. He also led the team in runs scored (35), total bases (77), and fewest strikeouts (15) among eligible hitters.  He placed second on the team in walks (19), and on-base-percentage (.434), tied for second with 10 doubles, and was third in OPS (.928) and slugging percentage (.494). Libby set a program record for hits in a game after finishing 7-for-7 with two doubles, a triple, seven RBI, a walk, and five runs scored against Gallaudet (Feb. 26). He won Liberty League Performer of the Week and was named to the D3Baseball.com Team of the Week for his performance.
 
Reilly hit .329 in 158 at-bats, including a program-record 17 doubles to lead the conference. He also led the team in RBI (34) and was second in total bases (74), while finishing third in hits (52). Reilly tied the program record with three doubles in RIT's 15-4 win over Hobart (Apr. 23).
 
RIT finished the season with a 21-16 record, including an 11-7 Liberty League mark, for its fifth 20-win season since 2015. The Tigers placed second in the Liberty League Tournament, their best finish since their conference championship in 2017.
