Three Tigers land Liberty League weekly honors
ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Three RIT student-athletes were honored by the Liberty League with weekly honors announced by the league, Monday.
Junior Kathryn Arbegast was the Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week, and senior Elena Onodera was the Women's Soccer Offensive Performer of the Week. On the men's side, sophomore Roman Mironenko was the Men's Soccer Offensive Performer of the Week.
Arbegast finished second out of 183 runners at Roberts Wesleyan's Harry F. Anderson Invitational on Saturday. The junior crossed the finish line with a time of 18:15.0 to help RIT finish the race in third.
Onodera scored twice, including the game winner, in a 3-2 win at home against No. 17 William Smith on Wednesday. The senior found the back of the net less than two minutes into the second half to give the Tigers a 2-1 lead before converting a penalty kick less than five minutes later. On the season, the forward has 11 points (5 goals, 1 assist) through nine games.
Mironenko tallied two goals to help RIT to a 0-0-2 record. The sophomore forward gave RIT a 1-0 lead on his goal in the 71st minute at Hobart, Wednesday. Mironenko's goal in the 88th minute gave the Tigers a 2-1 lead against RPI, Saturday.
