Women's Hockey completes the weekend sweep with 4-2 win over Lindenwood

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – RIT sophomore defensewoman Emma Pickering scored two goals to lead the Tigers to a 4-2 win over Lindenwood in Atlantic Hockey America action, Saturday.
 
Sophomore forward Addie Alvarez tallied a goal and three assists, while first year forward Kailey Favro had two assists.
 
 
HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Lindenwood's Molly Henderson scored 47 seconds into the first period to give the Lions the lead.
  • RIT fired five shots on net in the opening period, including one from senior forward Athena Vasdani who had a shot from the slot in the closing seconds.
  • Quinn McLaren scored a power play goal at 6:04 of the second period to give the Lions a 2-0 lead.
  • First year forward Brac Kelley scored at 6:04 of the frame to pull the Tigers to within a goal at 2-1.
  • Alvarez tied the game at 2-2 on her goal at 13:21 of the second. She fired a shot from in front. The rebound came back to her, and she poked a shot past Lindenwood goaltender Catherine Hodgins.
  • Pickering scored a power play goal at 16:24 to give the Tiger's their first lead of the game at 3-2. She skated in from the point and fired a wrist-shot over the shoulder of Hodgins and into the net for eighth goal of the season.
  • Pickering scored her second goal of the game at 16:17 of the third period to increase the Tiger's lead to 4-2.

 
GAME NOTES

  • RIT outshot Lindenwood 34-25
  • The Tigers went 1-for-2 on the power play
  • Senior goalie Sarah Coe made 23 saves in net
  • It is the first sweep for RIT over an Atlantic Hockey America opponent since the Tigers swept Penn State in 2020.
