Women’s Soccer falls on the road at Union, 3-1

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. –  The RIT women's soccer team fell to Union, 3-1, in Liberty League action Saturday afternoon.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Union opened the scoring in the 50th minute when Vanessa Jorgensen found the back of the net off a cross from Taylor Bovardi.
  • Bovardi doubled the lead for the Garnet Chargers in the 60th minute, converting a pass from Jorgensen.
  • The Tigers responded in the 63rd minute with a goal from sophomore defender Alexa Marsh that came off a corner kick, sending the shot from more than 20 yards out on the left side to inside the right post.
  • Union sealed the win in the 77th minute as Julia Bancheri scored off an assist from Sophia Surber.

 
GAME NOTES

  • Marsh's goal is her first goal of her collegiate career.
  • Senior goalkeeper Emily Sanchez made three saves in goal for the Tigers.
  • RIT finished with 11 shots in the game, including four shots on goal.
  • The visitors earned seven corner kicks, including six in the second half.
  • RIT's record slipped to 5-2-6 overall and 2-2-1 in Liberty League play.
