Men's Basketball holds on to beat Ithaca, 84-83

ITHACA, N.Y. – RIT senior guard Matt Caggiano scored 19 points, including a pair of free throws in the closing seconds to lead RIT to an 84-83 win at Ithaca, Tuesday.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Junior guard Chase Dickens hit a three-pointer to give RIT a 13-9 lead inside the first five minutes of the game.
  • Ithaca's Andrew Geschickter capped off a 10-0 Ithaca run with a three-pointer with 12:53 remaining to give the Bombers a 19-13 lead.
  • Senior guard Brandon Weiss hit a three-pointer with 3:39 to play in the half to give RIT a 36-33 lead, capping off a 10-2 Tiger's run.
  • Senior forward Kenny Wilburn scored off an assist from Dickens with 1:27 remaining to give RIT a 41-38 halftime lead.
  • Logan Wendell hit a three-pointer 20 seconds into the second half to tie the score at 41-41.
  • Junior forward Jackson Otis grabbed the offensive rebound and scored to give RIT a 48-45 lead early in the half, while Dickens scored with 15:54 to play to give the Tigers a 54-47 lead.
  • Junior forward Josiah Turner scored off a feed from Caggiano to give RIT a 65-59 lead, while Dickens made 1-of-2 free throws with 6:52 remaining to give the Tigers a 70-64 lead.
  • Ithaca took a 77-74 lead on a Triston Wennersten three-pointer with 3:21 remaining to cap off a 13-4 Bombers run.
  • Turner made a pair of free throws with 2:03 remaining to cut the Ithaca lead to 79-78.
  • Ithaca's Aidan Holmes gave the Bombers an 81-79 lead with a pair of free throws with 1:49 to play.
  • Caggiano scored to cut the deficit to 81-80 and Turner laid the ball in off an offensive rebound with 42 seconds remaining to give RIT an 82-81 lead.
  • Wendell scored with 25 seconds to play to give Ithaca an 83-82 lead, but Caggiano drained two free throws with 18 seconds to play to give the Tigers an 84-83 edge.
  • Dickens stole the ball in the closing seconds to secure the win for RIT.
