Women's Basketball falls at home to Skidmore, 63-46

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The RIT women's basketball team fell at home to Skidmore on Senior Day, 64-46, Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Skidmore held the Tigers to eight points in the first quarter.
  • Leading by 10 points early in the second quarter, the visiting Thoroughbreds extended their lead to 14 points when Skidmore's Sarah Chambers hit a three-pointer with 2:46 left in the half.
  • In the third quarter, RIT trimmed a 15-point deficit with a 10-6 run in the final five minutes of the quarter to trail Skidmore 46-35 as the teams headed into the fourth.
  • After Skidmore took a 13-point lead early in the fourth quarter, RIT used a 9-4 run to cut the lead to eight points with 4:29 remaining. However, the Thoroughbreds held RIT to one field goal down the stretch to earn the road win.

 
GAME NOTES

  • Senior guard Kaitlyn Bockelman led the Tigers with 14 points after hitting 4-of-7 from three-point range and 5-of-9 overall.
  • First-year Ben Keyser-Chochran recorded 11 points while grabbing a team-high seven rebounds.
  • Hannah Durand, a senior guard, chipped in eight points and six rebounds for RIT.
  • With the loss, RIT and Skidmore are tied for third in the conference standings as both teams are 12-11 overall and 10-6 in the Liberty League.
