Softball splits two games at St. John Fisher; wins 5-3, falls 8-0 (5 inn.)
PITTSFORD, N.Y. – The RIT Softball team split a doubleheader at St. John Fisher, Monday, taking the opener, 5-2, before falling, 8-0 (5 inn.) in game-two.
GAME 1 – RIT 5, ST. JOHN FISHER 2
- Senior Maddy Cook finished 2-for-4, including her fourth home run of the season, while first-year Sylvia White was 1-for-3 with an RBI double to lead the Tigers in game-one.
- Junior Jessica Majot picked up her fifth victory of the season, surrendering two runs on seven hits without a walk while striking out five
- Cook led off the second inning with a solo shot over the centerfield fence, before the Tigers plated two more runs in the third for a 3-0 lead. White led off the third with a double down the right field line before heading to third on a single by first-year Anna Cavotta. Both runners came home after a St. John Fisher throwing error on a sacrifice bunt attempt by sophomore Emma Merkley.
- The Cardinals scored a run in the bottom of the fourth and made it a one-run game with a home run in the fifth.
- The Tigers got one back in the sixth after first-year Carlianna Ewing hit a one-out triple to left before coming home on a RBI ground-out by White.
- RIT tacked on an unearned insurance run in the seventh after St. John Fisher committed a bases-loaded error that allowed Kehl to come home after drawing a lead-off walk.
GAME 2 – ST. JOHN FISHER 8, RIT 0 (5 INN.)
- St. John Fisher limited RIT to one hit while plating eight runs (two earned) on 10 hits and three errors to earn the five-inning split.
- Ewing was credited with RIT's lone hit with a single in the fifth inning.
GAME NOTES
Cook moved into a tie for fifth-place in program history with her eighth-career home run. She also drove in her 30th RBI this spring to become only the 12th Tiger to achieve the single-season milestone.

RIT travels to Brockport on Wednesday (Apr. 16) for a doubleheader slated for a 3:00 p.m. start before hosting Skidmore on Friday (Apr. 18) for a Liberty League twinbill at 3:00 p.m.
