Women's Hockey beats St. Lawrence 2-1
.ROCHESTER, N.Y. – RIT sophomore defensewoman Addie Carr scored her first collegiate goal to help the Tigers to a 2-1 win over St. Lawrence, Tuesday.
Sophomore goalie Sarah Coe made a season-high 42 saves, while junior forward Nicole Ness scored.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- RIT fired 12 shots on net in a scoreless first period, including four from senior forward Hana Solinger.
- Coe made 15 saves in the opening period for RIT.
- Ness had a chance at 6:09 of the second when she skated in and fired a back-handed shot on target, while senior forward Jaymee Nolan fired a shot on net at 6:51.
- Ness scored her second goal of the season at 9:07 of the period. She intercepted a clearing pass and poked a shot past St. Lawrence goalie Caitlin Whitehead. Junior forward Chloe McNeil and sophomore forward Megan McCormick had the assists.
- St. Lawrence's Abby Hustler tied the score at 1-1 on her goal at 5:28 of the third period off an assist from Kristina Bahl.
- Carr scored at 14:37 of the third to give the Tigers a 2-1 lead. Graduate student forward Amy Dobson fed Carr and she fired a wrist-shot into the top corner.
- Coe made a big stop on Julia Gosling with 2:20 remaining who tipped a shot on net from the slot.
GAME NOTES
- St. Lawrence outshot RIT 43-26.
- RIT had a season-best 29 blocks, including four from McCormick.
- It is RIT's first win over the Saints since the 1990-91 season.
