Men's Basketball loses Skidmore, 88-85

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The RIT men's basketball team dropped their final home game of the season to Skidmore, 88-85, Saturday. The team's graduating seniors were recognized in a pre-game ceremony.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Skidmore built a 10-point lead when Jack LaGarde converted an and 1 with 13:17 on the clock in the first half.
  • RIT responded with a 13-3 run to cut the Thoroughbreds' lead to just one point with 8:23 left in the half. The run was led by graduate student guard Mark Osime's five made free throws.
  • After graduate student guard Matt Caggiano hit a three-points to tie the game at 34-34, Skidmore closed out the half with a 15-6 run to head into the locker room with a nine-point advantage.
  • The Tigers took a one-point lead when senior guard Brock Bowen hit back-to-back three-pointers with less than 11 minutes to play.
  • Neither team managed to pull away down the stretch as the lead stayed at four points or under.
  • Trailing 86-82, Bowen made a three to cut Skidmore's lead to one with 2:20 on the clock.
  • Skidmore sealed the win with a pair of made free throws from Aidan Roy with 15 seconds left.

 
GAME NOTES

  • Senior forward Josiah Turner poured in 23 points to lead the Tigers while grabbing six rebounds.  
  • Bowen added 18 points after going 6-of-9 from beyond the arc as Osime scored 10 points.
  • Caggiano nearly had a double-double, scoring nine points and recording nine assists.
