Women's Hockey loses 2-1 at Mercyhurst
ERIE, Pa. – RIT sophomore defensewoman Emma Pickering scored in the Tigers 2-1 loss at Mercyhurst in Atlantic Hockey America action, Friday.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Mercyhurst's Julia Schalin scored at 15:56 of the first period on a tip-in in front of the RIT net to give the Lakers the lead.
- RIT fired eight shots in net in the opening frame, including a pair from first year forward Brac Kelley who had two chances from close range early in the period turned aside by Mercyhurst goaltender Jorden Mattison.
- Vanessa Upson scored at 11:08 of the second period to give the Lakers a 2-0 lead.
- RIT outshot Mercyhurst 14-10 in the second period, including a chance by first year forward Kailey Favro at 10:21 on a rush up ice by the Tigers. She fired a shot from the faceoff dot forcing Mattison to make the kick save.
- Pickering scored at 7:56 of the third period to cut the deficit to 2-1. Senior forward Annie Burks fired the puck into the Mercyhurst zone on a rush up ice by the Tigers. The puck rebounded off the back boards to Pickering who fired a back-handed shot past Mattison for her fifth goal of the season.

- The Tigers went 0-for-3 on the power play, while Mercyhurst was 0-for-4
- Burks tallied her first career point with the assist on Pickering's goal
