Wilde, Fukakusa named AHA All-Conference
ROCHESTER, N.Y. – RIT sophomore forwards Matthew Wilde and Tyler Fukakusa were named to the 2024-25 Atlantic Hockey America (AHA) All-Conference Team, announced Tuesday.
Wilde was named a first-team honoree while Fukakusa landed third-team recognition.
Wilde finished the regular season first in the AHA with 0.69 goals per game and second with 1.23 points per game. He was also tied for 12th nationally and second in the AHA with 18 goals - only trailing Holy Cross' Liam McLinskey (20), who played eight more games.
After missing the Tigers' first eight games with a preseason injury, Wilde scored at least one point in 19 of 26 games the rest of the regular season to finish second on the squad with 32 points while tying for first with nine multi-point games.
He tied a career-high with four points on two goals (including the GWG) and two assists in the 6-3 victory over Mercyhurst (Feb. 22) after logging a goal and an assist the night before in the 3-2 win en route to AHA Forward of the Week recognition.
Wilde also scored a career-high four points on two goals and two assists in the 6-2 win at Bentley (Nov. 9) and was credited with four points during RIT's two-game set at Sacred Heart, starting with two assists in the opener (Nov. 22) before logging a goal and an assist the following night (Nov. 23).
Fukakusa finished the regular season tied for fourth nationally with 27 assists and tied for 15th with a career-high 36 points. He also led the AHA in assists and assists per games (0.79) while tying for seventh with 1.06 points per game, including at least one point in all but 11 games during the regular season.
Fukakusa logged a six-point series versus visiting Mercyhurst, tying a career-high with four points (1G/3A) in the 6-3 win (Feb. 22) after compiling a goal, an assist and a career-high 21 face-off wins in the 3-2 (Feb. 21) win.
Tying Wilde with nine multi-point games during the season, Fukakusa notched a career-high four assists in the 6-2 win at Bentley (Nov. 9) and later scored a goal and an assist in back-to-back games versus Army (Nov. 16) and Sacred Heart (Nov. 22)
Fukakusa also ended the regular season third nationally with 407 faceoff victories while winning 56.0 percent of his draws. He won 18-of-31 faceoffs versus Robert Morris at home in December and also won 13-of-15 draws (.867) in the New Hampshire opener for two of his 27 total games with double-digit victories.
RIT finished the season with a 10-23-2 record, including a 9-15-2 AHA record to earn the ninth seed for the conference tournament. The Tigers lost to eighth-seeded AIC, 2-1, in overtime in a first-round matchup to close the season.
