Men's Basketball loses to Vassar, 75-64

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – The RIT men's basketball team fell on the road to Vassar, 75-64, Saturday.   
 
HOW IT HAPPENED

  • After scoring the first basket of the game, RIT led by as much as nine points in the first half.
  • Leading 21-18 with 7:12 on the clock, the Tigers went on a 12-4 run over the next three and a half minutes to take their largest lead of the game when senior guard Chase Dickens hit a three-point shot off a feed from sophomore guard Brody Brown.
  • Vassar started the second half with back-to-back jumpers to take a 36-34 lead.
  • The Tigers' last lead of the game came with 13:54 remaining during an 8-0 run. In the middle of the scoring burst, Dickens hit another three-point shot, giving RIT a one-point advantage.
  • At the 11:35 mark, the Brewers took the lead for good when Shea Fitzgerald made a jump shot to put Vassar up 49-48.

 
GAME NOTES

  • Senior forward Josiah Turner paced RIT with 15 points, which included a perfect 7-of-7 from the free-throw line. Turner also grabbed seven rebounds.
  • Dickens added 14 points with graduate student Kenny Wilburn scoring 11 points.
  • RIT's overall record slips to 6-8 overall and 2-5 in Liberty League action.

RIT returns home this coming Friday (Jan. 24) when they host Clarkson at 7:30 p.m.
