Women’s Basketball beats Union, 71-48, on Senior Day
ROCHESTER, NY – Senior forward Kaleesha Joseph scored 21 points and made 10 rebounds as the Tigers beat Union, 71-48, on Senior Day at Clark Gymnasium Saturday.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Union scored first, as Olivia Pachla hit a jumper to give the Dutchwomen a 2-0 lead with (;26 left in the first quarter.
- Senior forward Kaleesha Joseph got the Tigers on the board with a layup with 7:53 left in the first quarter to make the game 4-2 in Union's favor.
- The Dutchwomen were able to extend their lead to as much as 12-4 with 3:40 left in the first quarter, before the Tigers went on an 8-0 run culminating in a layup by sophomore guard Lila McGuiggin with 1:08 left on the clock.
- First-year guard Abigail Smith hit a layup as time expired to end the first quarter with the Tigers up, 14-12.
- The Dutchwomen regained the lead, 15-14, on a Claudia Porto free-throw with 8:35 left in the second quarter.
- Junior guard Emma Waite hit a three-pointer with 8:14 left in the quarter put the Tigers ahead again, 17-15.
- Union tied the game again, 21-21, on an Emma Riley jumper with 59 seconds left.
- RIT scored twice in the final minute to go into halftime up 25-21.
- Union narrowed the RIT lead to two, 28-26, but McGuiggin hit a three-pointer with 7:11 left in the third to again extend the RIT lead, 31-26.
- The Tigers outscored Union the rest of the third quarter, 13-7, to enter the final quarter up 44-33.
- RIT put the game away in the fourth by outscoring Union 27-15 for the 71-48 victory.
GAME NOTES
- The Tigers shot 25-of-55 (45.5%) from the floor, including 7-of-19 (36.8%) from beyond the arc.
- RIT shot 14-of-17 (82.4%) from the free throw line.
- McGuiggin scored 18 points, including four three-pointers.
- Joseph, Holland Gillis, and Meg Roy were honored before the game as part of Senior Day festivities.

The Tigers travel to RPI next Friday, Feb. 17, to face the Engineers. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 PM.
