RIT Athletics Preview: April 25-May 1

MEN'S LACROSSE (14-1, 5-1 Liberty League)
RIT led 14-0 at halftime in Saturday's 20-7 win at Skidmore. Junior Luke Pilcher finished with two goals and two assists while senior Spencer Bell tallied three goals. Senior Drew Hutchison made three saves in the first half to improve to 14-1 on the season.

Bell and junior Dylan Bruno each scored three goals and sophomore John Mozrall added three assists to lead the Tigers to a 14-4 win over Geneseo, Wednesday. Angus and senior Ryan Barnable each scored two goals and Hutchison made seven saves in net.

RIT, ranked No. 2 in this week's USILA Division III Coach's Poll, closes out the regular season at No. 10 St. Lawrence, Saturday (April 30) at 11:45 AM.

WOMEN'S LACROSSE (5-9, 3-6 Liberty League)
Senior McKenna Joint scored four goals and senior Steph Darrell scored her 100th career point in RIT's 16-8 loss to Skidmore, Saturday. Senior Colette Rigas finished with two goals and freshman Linda Nutter made 10 saves in net.

Darrell recorded a career high seven goals and eight points to lead the Tigers to a 23-20 win over Union, Friday. Joint finished with five goals and seven points, while senior Aldyn Savage tallied four goals and two assists. Rigas scored four goals and recorded her 100th career point in Friday's win. Nutter made 11 saves in net to earn the win.

RIT closes out the regular season on Saturday (April 30) at No. 13 St. Lawrence.

BASEBALL (16-15, 6-8 Liberty League)
Freshmen Christopher Colella and Sam Kulp each had a hit in RIT's 6-0 loss to Union, Sunday. Sophomore John Arnold allowed five earned runs on nine hits in four innings.

Colella singled to right in the bottom of the seventh that drove in senior Chris Reilly from third in the Tigers 4-3 win, Saturday. Colella finished 1-for-3 with two RBI, while Reilly and freshman Adam Marsh each had two hits. Junior Pete Bossinas pitched a perfect top of the seventh inning to earn the win.

Sophomore Randy Dodig had a pair of hits in RIT's 4-2 loss in game one, Saturday. Graduate student Collin Reformat went four innings allowing three earned runs on two hits.

Baseball hosts Rochester on Saturday (April 30) and Sunday (May 1). The Tigers will honor the class of 2022 in between games, Saturday.

SOFTBALL (6-20, 1-9 Liberty League)
Freshman Erin Ozminkowski went 3-for-3 with a double and an RBI in RIT's 3-0 won over St. Lawrence in game one, Sunday. Senior Jill Vorreiter went 1-for-3 with an RBI, while freshman Crystal Madore pitched all seven innings and allowed no runs on six hits with three strike outs to earn the win.

Vorreiter went 2-for-3 and drove in two runs in RIT's 6-4 loss to St. Lawrence in game two, Sunday. Junior Alexis Smith went 3-for-4 with a double an RBI and scored two runs, while senior Hannah Trumble scored a pair of runs.

RIT lost 4-0 and 3-2 to Clarkson, Saturday. Trumble and first-year Bailey Kehl each had hits in game one, while Smith finished 2-for-4 with an RBI in game two.

The Tigers lost a pair of games, 14-11 (10 INN.) and 6-1, Wednesday. The Tigers made up a 9-1 deficit in game one, with three runs in the sixth and three more in the seventh to force extra innings. Trumble finished 3-for-6 with two runs scored and four RBI, while first-year Lillian Rienstra ended up 3-for-6 with a double, a run scored and two RBI.

RIT hosts Nazareth on Tuesday (April 26). The Tigers play at Alfred (April 28), at Ithaca (April 29) and close out the regular season at Skidmore, Saturday (April 30).

MEN'S TRACK & FIELD
RIT competed at the St. John Fisher Cardinal Classic, Saturday. The Tigers won six individual events and one relay.

Senior Matthew Funicelli won the shot put (15.13m/49' 7.75") and the hammer (49.94m/163' 10") and was second in the discus (47.26m/155' 1"). Senior Hassan Eissa set a PR in winning the 10,000 )32:11.75), while sophomore Daniel De Zutter ran a PR to take first in the 5,000 (15:16.90). Sophomore Patrick Kenyon won the 800 (2:00.28) and sophomore Andrew Bernacki won the javelin (53.22m/174' 7"). First-year Trenton Goyette, sophomore Justin Jantzi, first-year Brendan McBride and first-year Ben Sheehan teamed up to win the 4x100 relay (43.10).

RIT will compete at the University of Rochester Spring Classic next Saturday (Apr. 30), slated to start at 10:00 a.m.
 
WOMEN'S TRACK & FIELD
RIT competed at the St. John Fisher Cardinal Classic, Saturday. Graduate student Marissa Dispenza won the 400 hurdles, improving her PR to 1:03.03. She ranks second in the event in program history. She teamed with first-year Caroline Hill, senior Sierra Kegler and first-year Kristen McDonough to win the 4x400 relay (4:13.65). Hill was victorious in the 200 (26.19).
 
MEN'S ROWING
The RIT men's rowing team swept the visiting St. Lawrence rowing team's three boats with wins in the Varsity 8, Second Varsity 8 and the Varsity 4, on the Genesee River, Saturday.

In the closest race of the day, the Tigers' Varsity 8 finished with a time of 5:57.89, with the Saints coming in second with a time of 6:03.81.

RIT also took first in the 2V8 with a time of 6:11.14, while St. Lawrence finished in 6:36.50. The Tigers' Varsity 4 took first in 7:02.33, while the Saints finished in 7:20.92.

Competing in RIT's varsity eight were Ben Clements, Jake Michalski, Gage Blackwell, Matthew Lindstedt, Alex Carey, Tommy Moore, Nicolas Langdon, Andrew Cuomo and Keenan Gildea.

RIT's second varsity eight was comprised of Jacob Marrer, Ben Baker, Marcel Koszkul, Jacob O'Connor, Alex Nenadic, Michael DeFranco, Luke Willett, Dan Shaw and Jack Oden.

Gage Blackwell, Jack Oden, Nicolas Langdon, Alex Nenadic and Ben Clements took the varsity four for RIT.

Men's Rowing next competes in the Liberty League Championships on Friday, April 29 in Saratoga Springs.
 
WOMEN'S ROWING
The RIT women's rowing team's varsity eight and novice four boats took first on the Genesee River in Liberty League action, Saturday.

RIT's varsity eight finished with more than a 10 second edge with a 6:47.60 time over St. Lawrence's time of 6:58.11. RIT's 2V8 finished third in 7:09.76.

In the Novice 4 race, the Tigers finished first with an 8:23.30 time, while the Saints posted a time of 8:26.89, a difference of 2.41 seconds.

RIT's winning varsity eight boat was comprised of Zoe Prince, Michelle Carney, Natalie Siwek, Izzy Moyer, Velvet Howland, Margaret Carey, Marielle Raasio, Lily Gaffney and Eliza Papke.

Women's Rowing next competes in the Liberty League Championships on Friday, April 29 in Saratoga Springs.
