Women's Hockey downs No. 7 Colgate, 4-2

ROCHESTER, N.Y. –RIT senior forward Bronwyn Khangsar scored the game-winning goal in the Tigers 4-2 win over to No. 7 Colgate in non-conference action, Saturday.
 
 
HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Colgate's Elyssa Biederman scored at 13:08 of the first period to give the Raiders the lead.
  • RIT fired 11 shots in the opening frame, including two each from sophomore Addie Alvarez, first year Ireland Stein, sophomore Emma Pickering and sophomore Linda Rulle.
  • Senior forward Kylie Aquaro tied the game at 1-1 on her power play goal at 10:13 of the second period off assists from first year forward Brac Kelley and graduate student defensewoman Mia Tsilemos.
  • Kelley fired a shot on net from the face-off circle and Aquaro poked the rebound in on a loose puck in front of the Colgate net.
  • Kelley scored her first collegiate goal at 9:06 of the third period to give the Tigers a 2-1 lead. She intercepted a pass and broke in on Walker, beating her with a back-handed shot.
  • Casey Borgiel tied the game at 2-2 on her power play goal at 11:25 on a shot from the point.
  • Khangsar scored at 14:38 to give the Tigers a 3-2 lead. Kelley skated into the Colgate zone. A Colgate defender poked the puck loose. Khangsar trailed the play and scored on one-timer in front, beating Walker stick-side.
  • Sophomore forward Addie Alvarez scored an empty-net goal at 18:21 to make it a 4-2 final.

 
GAME NOTES

  • RIT outshot Colgate 34-30.
  • Senior goalie Sarah Coe made 28 saves in net to improve to 3-0 on the season.
  • RIT was 1-for-7 on the power play, while the Raiders were 2-of-5.
  • Kelley had a career-high two assists and three points.
  • This is the first result for RIT against a ranked opponent since a 2-2 tie against No. 10 Penn State in January of 2023.
