No. 3 Men's Lacrosse runs past St. John Fisher, 19-4
PITTSFORD, N.Y. – RIT graduate student Seth Grottenthaler scored three goals in the No. 3 Tigers 19-win over St. John Fisher, Wednesday.
Grottenthaler finished with three goals and an assist and senior Clifford Gaston scored three goals. Sophomore Erich Acton tallied two goals, and an assist and sophomore Nick DiLauro had three assists. Graduate student Ian Dinga had a goal and assist and senior Nate Senez and first year Ryan Bullock each scored two goals.
Graduate student Allyn French won 10-of-11 face offs and scored a goal. Fifth year Hunter FitzGibbons caused three turnovers and junior Alex Zborowski made nine saves in net.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- RIT scored the first three goals of the game, taking a 3-0 lead on French's goal with 11:44 to play in the frame.
- Gaston and Senez tallied back-to-back goals, extending the Tiger's lead to 5-1 on Senez' goal with 8:25 remaining in the quarter.
- Brett Seaman scored for Fisher with 54 seconds remaining to cut RIT's lead to 5-2.
- The Tigers outscored the Cardinals 5-0 in the second quarter to lead 10-2 at halftime.
- Grottenthaler scored twice in the quarter while Gaston, Bullock and Acton each scored in the quarter.
- RIT outscored the Cardinals 7-0 in the third quarter to extend its lead to 17-2.
- Acton, Senez, Grottenthaler, Bullock, junior Chase Bruno, senior Ethan Harkins and junior Tyson Allison each scored for the Tigers in the quarter.
- Senior Jack Budway scored early in the fourth quarter to give the Tigers an 18-2 lead.
- Fisher's Sean Donaldson scored with 8:30 remaining in the fourth breaking a 37-minute scoreless run by the Cardinals.
- First year Zach Lipton tallied his first collegiate goal with 3:41 remaining and Tyson DeLisio scored in the final minutes to make it a 19-4 final.
GAME NOTES:
- RIT outshot Fisher, 48-29.
- The Tigers were 26-of-26 on clearing attempts and went 4-for-5 with the extra attacker
- RIT won 19-of-36- face offs and had 35 ground balls

RIT returns to action on Saturday (March 22) against No. 4 RPIT at 1:00 p.m. Saturday is Youth Day at RIT. Admission is free. There will be contests, giveaways and food trucks.
