ROCHESTER, N.Y. - RIT sophomore goaltender Sophia Bellina was named to the 2024 Hockey Commissioners Association National Women's Goalie of the Year watch list as announced by the association on Friday.
The conference offices have come up with the initial "Watch List" of goalies from across division one programs. A committee of voters — made up of a cross section of coaches, administrators, and media — will ultimately choose the winner who will be announced in March during the NCAA Frozen Four.
Bellina was one of 28 women's ice hockey goaltenders nationally who were named to the list and one of three from College Hockey America.
This season, the Cleveland, Ohio native is 7-2-0 and leads the CHA and is 11th in Division I with a 1.62 goals against average and eighth in Division I and first in the CHA with a .947 save percentage.
RIT returns to action on Friday (Jan. 12) against Penn State at 6:00 p.m.
