Men's Hockey names 2025-26 Captains
ROCHESTER, N.Y. – RIT Men's Hockey Head Coach Matt Thomas announced senior forward Tyler Mahan as captain for the 2025-26 season, while senior forward Austin Brimmer, senior forward Simon Isabelle, senior forward Adam Jeffery and junior defenseman Kevin Scott were tabbed assistants.
"We have challenged our team to continue to uphold the winning standard that RIT has demonstrated," said Thomas. "These individuals, through a team vote, were chosen to lead this team. Tyler Mahan has shown a relentless commitment on the ice and off of it to his teammates and our program. He is an excellent choice as our next captain. All four assistant captains are equally deserving. Each of them, in their unique way, bring an attitude that not only inspires but motivates our team."
Mahan has appeared in 109 games the last three seasons, totaling 38 points on 20 goals and 18 assists. He is also a two-time American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA) All-American Scholar and a three-time Atlantic Hockey America (AHA) All-Academic Team honoree.
Brimmer transferred to RIT following three seasons and 97 career appearances at Long Island University. He scored 55 career points on 23 goals and 32 assists, including 21 points (9G/12A) in 2024-25 as the Sharks finished with a 20-12-2 record for the first 20-win campaign in program history.
Isabelle returns after finishing 18th nationally with 390 faceoff victories and among the national leaders with a .570 faceoff winning percentage. The 2023-24 AHCA All-American Scholar and three-time AHA All-Academic team honoree is also the Tigers' top returner with 44 career points on 21 goals and 23 assists.
Jeffery has made 54 appearances the last three seasons in a Tiger sweater. A three-time AHA All-Academic Team member, he returns with seven points on four goals and three assists.
Scott has played 64 games the last two years, including all 35 a season ago. Along with seven career points (all assists), he has blocked 46 career shots, including 36 a season ago to finish second for the Tigers. Scott was named an AHCA Scholar All-American in 2023-24 and an AHA All-Academic Team honoree the last two seasons.
