Six Things You Need to Know About the 2025 Men’s Soccer Team

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The RIT men's soccer team opens the 2025 campaign on Friday (Aug. 29) at Brockport. Here are the top six things you need to know about the Tigers heading into the season.

MEET THE CAPTAINS
Seniors David Brassie and Gabriel Zaninetti, graduate student Chris Lee and junior Mauricio Gonzalez will serve as co-captains in 2025.

"David, Mauricio, Chris and Gabriel complement each other as leaders on the field, in the locker room, and importantly as positive ambassadors in the RIT community," said RIT head coach Bill Garno. "They are positive role models for our young players. All are fantastic student-athletes: David's role on the executive board of RIT's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and Chris joining SAAC demonstrates the value and gratitude our team has as members of the RIT community."

FORWARDS
Senior Selorm Dake led RIT with eight points and three goals in 2024. Sophomore forward Idriss Diallo tallied a goal and two assists in his first season in 2024. Sophomore Roman Mironenko will see time in 2025 after playing in 15 games last season. Junior transfer Gavin Culley and first year Moobin Shin will also see time at forward.

MIDFIELD
Senior Tate Pottle returns along with juniors Adam Eastman and Daniel Sucato. Zaninetti returns to the midfield after being away on co-op in the fall of 2024. Graduate student Chris Lee played the last two seasons at University of Albany and will sure up the Tiger's midfield. Brassie and first year Constantine Santacrose will also see time at midfield.

THE DEFENDERS & GOALIES
Gonzalez returns after being away on co-op during the 2024 season. He is joined by sophomore center-back Carson Bandel and sophomore outside back Adrian Sobczak. Bandel started all 18 games last season, while Sobczak played in 17 games, finished tied for third on the team in scoring and was a Third Team All-Liberty League selection. Seniors Krzysztof Antiporowicz and Bryce Hoang and sophomores James Kasuda, Alejandro Ortega and first year Tony Shin will solidify the Tiger's backline.

Senior Connor Cronin will vie for the starting goalkeeper position with sophomores Kristian Dobbek and Owen Hallagan.
