Women's Hockey wins 4-3 at Mercyhurst
ERIE, Pa. – RIT sophomore defensewoman Emma Pickering scored two third-period goals to lead the Tigers to a 4-3 win at Mercyhurst in Atlantic Hockey America action, Saturday.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Sophomore forward Linda Rulle scored a power play goal at 19:20 of the first period. Sophomore forward Addie Alvarez fired a shot from the point that Rulle tipped past Jorden Mattison to give the Tigers the lead.
- Senior forward Athena Vasdani scored a power play goal at 2:32 of the second period, poking in a loose puck in front of the Mercyhurst net to give the Tigers a 2-0 lead.
- Julia Schalin cut the Mercyhurst deficit to 2-1 on her power play goal at 13:18 of the second and Vanessa Upson tied the game at 2-2 on her goal at 19:52.
- Chantal Ste-Croix gave the Lakers a 3-2 lead on her goal 1:31 into the third period.
- Pickering tied the game on her power play goal at 3:53 and tallied the game-winner on her second power play goal of the period at 7:36. She skated the length of the ice and scored on a wraparound shot for team-best seventh goal of the season.

- Mercyhurst outshot RIT 45-20
- The Tigers went 4-for-6 on the power play, while Mercyhurst was 1-for-4
- Junior goalie Sophia Bellina made 42 saves in net
- Alvarez and senior forward Kylie Aquaro each had two assists
- It is the first win for RIT at Mercyhurst since a 1-0 win on Jan. 6, 2020.
