Baseball tops St. Lawrence in seven innings, 16-0

ROCHESTER, N.Y.   – First-year pitcher Owen Fisher threw seven strikeouts through five innings to help RIT defeat St. Lawrence, 16-0, Saturday.  
 
HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Senior outfielder Adam Marsh hit a single to left center to drive in junior Jackson Rusiecki and senior Randy Dodig. Later in the inning, graduate student John Bagley singled to bring sophomore Dewey Rautzhan and junior Jarin Moses home to give RIT a 4-0 lead heading into the second inning.
  • In the third, Rusiecki doubled down the left line to allow Dodig, Bagley, and junior Caelen Kim to score, giving RIT a 7-0 lead.
  • Bagley hit a double to right field in the fifth inning to drive in junior Charlie Slaymaker, making it a 14-0 advantage.
  • The Tigers closed out the scoring later in the fifth when sophomore Josh Eagle singled to left center to bring Bagley home.

 
GAME NOTES

  • Fisher improved to 2-1 on the season after allowing three hits and no walks in addition to striking out a career-best seven batters.
  • Rusiecki finished the game with a season-high four RBIs and is now second on the team with 19 RBIs.
  • The 16 runs are the most the Tigers have scored in a game this season. RIT had previously scored 12 runs on two occasions.
  • With the win, RIT improves to 14-5 overall and 3-3 in the Liberty League action.
