Men's Basketball falls at home to Bard, 81-73

ROCHESTER N.Y. – The RIT men's basketball team fell to Bard, 81-73, in their Liberty League opener, Friday.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Bard opened the game with a 7-0 run and never surrendered the lead.
  • RIT cut the lead to two points with 5:14 remaining in the first half when Brody Brown drained a three pointer, making it a 22-20 game. However, the Raptors would finish the half with a 40-29 lead.
  • The visitors extended the lead to 14 points with 15:35 left in the game when Lazaros Panagiotounis drained a three pointer.
  • Down the stretch, the Tigers would get as close as five points on two occasions. The last coming with 14 seconds on the clock after graduate student Kenny Wilburn made the front end of a pair of free throws, putting the score at 78-73.

 
GAME NOTES

  • Wilburn finished the game with 17 points and 14 rebounds, his third double double of the season.
  • Senior Brock Bowen also had 17 points after shooting 4 of 9 from long range and 5 of 11 overall.
  • Bard's Panagiotounis led all scorers with 23 points. The guard was busy at the free-throw line, converting 12 of 13 from the charity stripe.
