Baseball sweeps weekend games at RussMatt Invitational

AUBURNDALE, Fla.  – The RIT baseball team earned three wins over the weekend as the Tigers have now won five-straight games.
 
RIT 9-4 FONTBONNE

  • Trailing 4-0 in the sixth inning, RIT rallied back in the seventh to tie the game when Jackson Rusiecki singled to right field, bringing in Randy Dodig and John Bagley. Later in the inning, Jarin Moses put the Tigers in the lead with a three-run homer.
  • In the eighth inning, Charlie Slaymaker and Dewey Rautzhan each scored on a pair of wild pitches to give RIT the 9-4 win of the Griffins.
  • Starting pitcher John Arnold along with Dodig reached notable milestones as Arnold made his program leading 37th start as Dodig finished the game as the program's all-time leader in at-bats. 

 
RIT 10-0 LAKELAND

  • RIT used a four-run second inning to take control of the game against Lakeland.
  • Pitcher Luc Rising threw five innings, allowing one hit while striking our four batters to earn the win.

 
RIT 9-7 RUSSELL SAGE

  • With the game tied, 4-4 through four innings, Moses reached on a fielder's choice to bring Isaac Breagelmann home to give RIT a one-run lead in the sixth.
  • Russell Sage regained the lead in the bottom of the sixth after James Lubanski singled to drive in Dom Caminitti.
  • The Tigers got the lead back in the top of the eighth when Moses sent the ball of the outfield fence to score two runs, put the score at 8-7.
  • Charlie Slaymaker hit a sacrifice fly, allowing Dorian Stroud to score later in the eighth to make it a two-run lead.
