SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – The RIT women's tennis team competed at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Northeast Championships at Skidmore College.
First years Melanie Saborio and Maya McDaniel defeated Sonya Pereldik and Aira Abalos (TCNJ), 8-4 in Saturday's opening doubles match, and beat Victoria Sarabosing and Kaaviya Kannan (RPI), 8-7 in the Round of 16 match. Saborio and McDaniel advanced to the semifinals after an injury forced Flores Gonzalez and Ridenour of RPI to retire but lost 8-1 to Konika Dhull and Grace Truong (Skidmore) in the semifinals.
Sophomore Kira Kronenberg and first year Emily Greb were 8-0 winners over Haley Peck and Danielle Copp (Oneonta) in their opening round match and advanced after an injury in their Round of 16 match. Kronenberg and Greb lost 8-7 to Victoria Wang and Siona Vallabhaneni (NYU) in the quarterfinals.
RIT returns to action on Wednesday (Oct. 23) against Geneseo at 3:00 p.m.
