RIT Athletics Preview: Oct. 14 – Oct. 20
MEN'S HOCKEY
RIT split their weekend series at Mercyhurst falling 4-2 on Friday before winning 4-2 on Saturday.
In the win, first-year goaltender Jakub Krbecek totaled 31 saves to preserve his second victory of the season as junior forward Simon Isabelle scored twice for the Tigers.
RIT hosts Bowling Green next Saturday (Oct. 19) in the annual Brick City Homecoming and Family Weekend game at Blue Cross Arena in downtown Rochester. Faceoff is set for 7:05 p.m.

WOMEN'S HOCKEY
After falling 5-1 to No. 7 Colgate on Friday, RIT earned a 4-2 win against the Raiders on Saturday. The win marks the first time the Tigers have a result a ranked opponent since earning a 2-2 tie No. 10 Penn State in January of 2023.
In the win, senior forward Bronwyn Khangsar scored the game-winning goal in the third period.
Senior goalkeeper Sarah Coe made 28 saves in net to improve to 3-0 on the season.
RIT returns to action on Thursday (Oct. 17) against RPI at 6:00 p.m. to kick off RIT Brick City Homecoming and Family Weekend.

WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY
RIT senior Sierra Danieu finished first while sophomore Kathryn Arbegast finished second to lead the Tigers to a first-place finish at the Highlander Invitational, Saturday.
Danieu crossed the finish line with a winning 21:50.7 clocking, besting the field by nearly 54 seconds. It was her second-straight win after also finishing first at the Kara Hall Invitational at Fredonia last Saturday.
Arbegast crossed in 22:44.1 with an 11-second cushion over the rest of the field.
The Tigers travel to Geneseo next Saturday (Oct. 19) to compete in the Mike Woods Invitational.

MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY
RIT juniors Derick Koen and Evan Owens placed first and second, respectively, to lead the men's cross country team to first place at the Highlander Invitational, Saturday.
Koen crossed the finish line with a 25:25.6 clocking to win the individual championship for the second-straight year while also leading the Tigers to their second-consecutive team championship at the event.
Owens also pulled away from the field to log a runner-up 25:36.0 clocking.
The Tigers travel to Geneseo next Saturday (Oct. 19) to compete in the Mike Woods Invitational.

WOMEN'S SOCCER
The Tigers split their two road games last week, falling to No. 20 Rochester, 1-0, before getting past St. Lawrence, 2-1.
In the win over the Saints on Saturday, sophomore Emma Pedro scored the game-winning goal in the 34th minute. RIT held on to keep St. Lawrence from scoring the rest of the way as junior goalkeeper Emily Sanchez recorded five saves in the game.
RIT visits Skidmore on Friday (Oct. 18) at 4 p.m. and RPI on Friday (Oct. 19) at 2 p.m.

MEN'S SOCCER
RIT dropped their two games last week with a pair of 1-0 losses at Geneseo on Wednesday and against St. Lawrence on Saturday.
Senior goalkeeper Jason Trapp was credited with five saves over the two games.
The Tigers host Skidmore this Friday (Oct. 18) and RPI on Saturday (Oct. 19).

WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL
RIT played a pair of Liberty League matches at home over the weekend. On Friday, the Tigers defeated Bard, 3-1 (24-26, 25-13, 25-11, 25-15) before losing to Union on Saturday, 1-3 (25-20, 13-25, 25-21, 25-23).
Against Bard, sophomore outside hitter Mia Gerber logged a match-high 17 kills along with 12 digs. The following day, Gerber recorded a match-high 14 kills as sophomore outside hitter Macie Jolliffe added 13 kills and nine digs.
RIT hits the road for a pair of matches next Saturday (Oct. 19) at Liberty League-rival Clarkson, taking on the Golden Knights at 1:00 p.m. before a non-league match with Rochester at 3:00 p.m.

MEN'S SWIMMING & DIVING
The Tigers opened their season at RPI on Saturday, earning a 197-99 win.
RIT picked up 12 event wins, with swimmers Drew Scheib and Josh Berty winning two individual events as Gellert Kish won the 3-meter diving event. Scheib was also on two winning relay teams.
RIT hosts Alfred this Friday (Oct. 18) with competition starting at 5 p.m.

WOMEN'S SWIMMING & DIVING
RIT opened the season with a 163-137 loss at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Saturday.
The Tigers won eight events, with senior swimmer Anna Peshenko winning a pair of individual events and also swimming the second leg in the 200 yard medley relay.

RIT put together a strong showing at the 35th Head of the Genesee on Saturday with the 2V/3V 8+, collegiate 8+, and novice 8+ boats picking up wins.

MEN'S TENNIS
The Tigers wrapped up the fall portion of their schedule with a convincing 6-1 at Daemen on Saturday.
First-year Yu Tanimoto won at first singles, 6-2, 6-0 as well at third doubles with senior Christian Berko, 7-5.
RIT begins their spring season on Saturday, February 8th, at Oneonta.
