ROCHESTER, N.Y. – RIT sophomore Jessica Majot and junior Lillian Rienstra were named members of the 2024 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Softball Team.
The Academic All-District teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the diamond and in the classroom. To be considered, nominees had to have achieved at least a sophomore standing and a minimum 3.50 cumulative grade point average while playing a prominent role on the field of competition.
A mechanical engineering major with a 4.0 GPA, Majot was also named second-team All-Liberty League after finishing with a 9-9 record for a career-high win total. She ranked fourth in the Liberty League with 83 strikeouts, fourth with 119.2 innings pitched, tied for first with 15 complete games and tied for fourth with four shutouts. Majot finished the spring with a 2.40 earned run average while holding hitters to a .238 batting average.
Rienstra owns a 3.84 GPA while majoring in advertising photography. She also started all 37 games at shortstop this spring, batting .277 while finishing third for the Tigers with 32 hits, tied for third with 16 RBI and fifth with 16 runs scored.
Majot was selected to move on to the national ballot, where she will be in consideration for Academic All-America status, to be announced later this month.
RIT finished the season with a 13-23-1 record, including a 6-8 Liberty League mark to qualify for the conference tournament for the first time since 2017.
