Women's Hockey announces 2025-26 captains
ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Bruce B. Bates Women's Hockey Coach Celeste Brown announces junior defender Emma Pickering and senior forward Jaidan Fahrny as captains and senior forward Lexi Sung, junior forward Addie Alvarez and junior forward Linda Rulle as alternate captains for 2025-26.
"We are excited to announce our leadership for the 2025-26 season," said Brown. "Our five captains each bring unique aspects and perspective to their leadership. They each represent what it means to be a student-athlete at RIT and push our standard each day. They will work with each member of the team to build a team inspired by each other to reach their goals."
Pickering was a 2024-25 First Team All-AHA selection. She recorded career highs in points (22), goals (11) and assists (11). An alternate captain last season, Pickering finished tied for ninth in the league in goals and led the AHA and was tied for fifth in Division I with eight power play goals. The exercise science major is a two-time AHA All-Academic selection.
"Emma has handled her leadership with grace, fostering the respect of every single teammate each day," said Brown. "When she speaks others listen due to her day-to-day process and understanding of each valuable member of our team."
Fahrny enters her final season with 14 career points on five goals and nine assists. She played in 17 games last season, handing out two assists. The biomedical sciences major is a two-time AHA All-Academic selection.
"Jaidan leads and inspires with emotion and hard work," said Brown. "She pushes hard every day and brings others with her. She is a voice that carries due to her care of every single teammate."
Sung has played in 74 career games entering the 2025-26 season. She played in 18 games last season, handing out an assist and winning 67-of-118 face offs. The biomedical engineering major is a three-team AHA All-Academic selection.
"Lexi has been a part of our growth as a program and brings wisdom and perspective to our leadership group," said Brown. "She has helped shape our culture and the players can look to Lexi on her pursuit of being a great student-athlete."
Alvarez enters 2025-26 with 43 career points on 10 goals and 33 assists in 54 career games. She led the Tigers with a career-high 32 points and 26 assists in 2024-25. She was third in the AHA in assists and assists per game and 16th in Division I in assists per game.
"Addie means business when setting the standard for RIT Hockey," said Brown. "She believes in our program and our pursuit of greatness. Her positive energy and pursuit of greatness spreads to her teammates allowing them to work towards the best versions of themselves."
Rulle played in a career-high 35 games last season. She recorded career highs in points (12), goals (8) and assists (4). Rulle recorded seven points in four goals and three assists in 19 AHA contests. The global business management is a two-time AHA All-Academic selection.
"Linda's perspective is something that will enhance our leadership group," said Brown. "Her dedication to maximizing being a student-athlete started the day she committed to RIT. Her teammates look to her to mimic and embody what she shows."
RIT begins its 2025-26 season on Friday, September 26 against Post.
