Men's Soccer ties No. 25 Hobart, 1-1

GENEVA, N.Y. – RIT sophomore forward Roman Mironenko scored his first collegiate goal in the Tigers' 1-1 draw at No. 25 Hobart, Wednesday.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • RIT had four shots in the first half, including two from senior defender Bryce Hoang.
  • Sophomore goalie Kristian Dobbek made two saves in the opening 45 minutes.
  • Mironenko scored in the 71st minute to give RIT the lead.
  • Graduate student midfielder Chris Lee and first year defender Tony Shin worked the give-and-go. Shin tipped a pass to Mironenko. His shot was blocked by a Statesmen defender, but the rebound came back to Mironenko, and he finished into the corner.
  • Hobart's Quinn Phillips converted a penalty kick in the 78th minute to tie the game 1-1.

 
GAME NOTES:

  • Hobart outshot RIT, 15-12. The Tigers had five shots on net, including a pair from Mironenko.
  • RIT had two corner kicks to three for the Statesmen.
  • Dobbek made five saves for RIT.
