Men's Hockey loses at New Hampshire, 5-1

DURHAM, N.H. – The RIT Men's Hockey team lost at New Hampshire, 5-1, Friday night.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED

• New Hampshire scored 62 seconds into the game after Robert Cronin took a long outlet pass on the left wing and centered a puck to Marty Lavins in the slot for a shot inside the right post.
• The Wildcats made it a 2-0 lead at 10:07 after Alex Gagne received a pass at the top of the Tiger zone and skated down the slot to roof a shot over Tiger first-year goaltender Jakub Krbecek's glove.
• New Hampshire took a 3-0 lead at 3:56 of the second following a Tiger holding penalty. Nick Ring took a long cross-ice feed in the left faceoff circle and scored on a one-timer under Krbecek's pads.
• RIT got on the board at 10:24 of the second. Sophomore forward Christian Catalano dug a puck off the boards outside the left faceoff circle to sophomore forward Tyler Fukakusa, who took a shot that deflected down off goaltender Jared Whale's pads. Sophomore forward Matthew Wilde collected the loose puck outside the left post and skated through the slot to tip a backhand past Whale's outstretched glove.
• New Hampshire responded 1:13 later after Cy LeClerc cleaned up a loose puck in front of the Tiger net for a 4-1 lead.
• The Wildcats closed the scoring 2:12 into the third. Ring intercepted a pass in the Tiger zone and skated on goal for a shot that deflected off Krbecek's pads before Liam Devlin tipped the rebound inside the right post. 

GAME NOTES

• New Hampshire out-shot the Tigers, 36-22.
• RIT blocked a season-high 19 shots, including a career-high six by graduate student defenseman Dimitri Mikrogiannakis and three by junior defenseman Gustav Blom.
• Wilde notched his fifth goal and 10th point in seven games since returning from a preseason injury.
• Krbecek totaled 31 saves for his 10th outing in as many appearances this season with at least 30 saves.
• Fukakusa logged his team-leading 16th point and 13th assist of the season while extending a four-game point streak. He also tied a career high winning 13-of-15 (.867) faceoffs.
