Baseball falls twice at RPI in Crossover Series to end season

TROY, N.Y.   – The RIT baseball team were swept in two games by RPI in the best-of-three Liberty League Crossover Series, Friday.
 
GAME ONE – RPI 6, RIT 3

  • In the bottom of the second inning, the Engineers' Ayush Krishnappa hit a home run down the left line to open the scoring.
  • RPI picked up two more runs in the third inning to make it a 4-0 lead.
  • The Tigers got on the board in the top of the sixth inning when Adam Marsh hit a sacrifice fly ball to right field, sending junior second baseman Jardin Moses across home plate.
  • Later in the inning, junior designated hitter Roberto Reade homered over the left center fence, bringing in junior third baseman Charlie Slaymaker from third base to cut RPI's lead to one run.
  • The Engineers added another pair of runs in the seventh inning to make the score 6-3.

 
GAME TWO – RPI 11, RIT 0 (8 inn.)

  • The Engineers opened the scoring in the bottom of the first inning when Krishnappa drove in Jon Primerano with a single to right field.
  • Primerano scored again in the third inning off a single by Ian Oehlschlaeger to make it a 2-0 lead.
  • In the seventh, Oehlschlaeger hit a two-run homer to extend RPI's lead to seven runs.
  • Primerano ended the game in the eighth inning with a three-run home run over the left field fence.

 
GAME NOTES

  • The Tigers finish the season with an 11-7 record in the Liberty League and 22-14 overall.
