RIT Athletics Preview: May 6-12
SOFTBALL
The Tigers lost both games of a doubleheader at Ithaca, 2-0 and 4-0, but still qualified for the Liberty League Tournament.
RIT will play St. Lawrence in a play-in game at RPI.

MEN'S TRACK & FIELD
The Tigers placed third out of eight teams at the Liberty League Championships this past weekend.
The 4x400 relay team of sophomore Ryan Senf, junior Max Stein, sophomore Michael Sardo and first-year Jack DeFeo took first (3:17.17), Stein also won the 400 hurdles (53.20) and DeFeo placed third in the 400 (49.56). First-year Erich Brown placed third in the high jump with a height of 1.85m, first-year Jacen Mitchell finished third in both the 110 hurdles (15.29) and the 400 hurdles (56.77). Sophomore Josh Bedford finished third in the 800 (1:55.79). First-year Keenan Gosselin placed third in the decathlon with 5,525 points, senior Andrew Bernacki placed second in the javelin with a throw of 57.73m, followed by Gosselin in third (55.80m) and junior Jason Mohr in fourth (55.77m).
RIT competes at the Harrison Dilliard Twilight hosted by Baldwin Wallace this week.

WOMEN'S TRACK & FIELD
The Tigers placed third out of eight teams at the Liberty League Championships this past weekend.
Junior Emily DiMarco was named Most Outstanding Field Performer after finishing first in the discus (40.72m) and second in the shot put (12.50m). The 4x100 relay team of junior Allison Regnante, sophomore Sadie Rose, sophomore Rania Sabri and junior Caroline Hill took the top spot with a 49.39 clocking. Rose also finished first with a conference-record 55.07 clocking in the 400 and also won the 200 (24.14), lowering her own program records in both events. Rose and Hill also joined graduate student Sydney Burgard and sophomore Samantha Crisci to win the 4x400 relay (3:57.90).
Sophomore Samantha Crisci placed third in the 400 hurdles (1:06.15) followed by junior Justine Draper in fifth (1:07.05). First-year Bailee Drummond finished third in the discus (39.67), Regnante also finished second in the long jump with a leap of 5.54m. Graduate student Catherine Fox finished second in the pole vault final with a height of 3.51m, junior Sonya Shivok finished second in the javelin (36.91m) while senior Abby Carpenter placed fourth (34.28m) and senior Katie Cobos placed second in the 10,000 with a time of 38:18.54.

MEN'S ROWING
The Tigers competed at the Liberty League Championships this past weekend.
The 1st Varsity 8 boat finished third in the 1V8 final behind Ithaca and St. Lawrence, while beating Union and Skidmore, clocking a finishing time of 6:17.56. The boat was coxswained by Jacob Marrer and consisted of Nicolas Langdon, Alex Nenadic, Tyler Emerson, Luka Lasic, Nick Ricotta, Tommy Moore, Michael DeFranco and Parker Kinsman.
The 2nd Varsity 8 boat placed second in the 2V8 final behind Ithaca and ahead of Union, Skidmore and St. Lawrence. The boat consisting of coxswain Jackson Blazek, Ben Baker, Adam Hunt, Sam Collier, Jack Oden, Emmet Christiansen, Riley McMichael, Keenan Gildea and Nicholas Staley, finished in 6:26.45.
In the V4 race, the Tigers 2nd Varsity 4 boat consisting of coxswain Sunny Gurappa Murali, David Huelsmann, Gavin McIlvaine, Sam Ferreira and Adrian Edwards, placed third behind Rochester and Ithaca, finishing the course in 7:20.06. The 1st Varsity 4 boat with coxswain Ivan Keenan, Jarid Whitten, Gideon DeMarco, Aiden Moynihan and Adam Dernis, placed fourth with a time of 7:20.37.
RIT competes at the Dad Vail Regatta hosted by Thomas Jefferson University this weekend.

WOMEN'S ROWING
The Tigers competed at the Liberty League Championships this past weekend.
The 1st Varsity-8 boat finished second in the first heat preliminary round behind Ithaca, while beating Rochester and Union with a time of 7:16.06. In the 1V8 final, the Tigers placed second behind Ithaca, while beating William Smith, Skidmore, Rochester and St. John Fisher, finishing the racecourse in 7:11.15. The boat consisted of coxswain Claire Schwenke, Jessica Hall, Lydia Blatnik, Natalie Siwek, Maggie Carey, Michelle Carney, Olivia Henry, Ellen Shepard and Evelyn Anderson.
The 2nd Varsity-8 boat placed second in first heat preliminary round behind William Smith and ahead of Union and St. John Fisher with a time of 7:31.89. In the 2V8 final, RIT placed fourth behind Ithaca, William Smith and Rochester, beating Skidmore and Union in a finishing time of 7:42.20. The boat was coxswained by Julia Gill and consisted of Veronica Wascho, Sarah Polek, Nikole Russek, Lexi Borzelleri, Izzy Moyer, Mikaela Simpkinson, Jenna Olivieri and Erin Getty.
The 1st Varsity 4 boat placed second in the 1V4 final behind Ithaca, with a finishing time of 8:54.95. The boat consisted of coxswain Jolie Crunelle, Zoe Zeller, Mia Leone, Hannah Boettcher and Arden Conybear.
The Novice 8 boat with coxswain Rosie Truex, Emily DeVries, Julianne Young, Lumi Priester, Carly Beninati, Clara LaChance, Ryan Schouten, Amanda Brunken and Anna DeJohn, placed second behind Ithaca in the N8 final. The boat finished the racecourse in 8:18.29.

MEN'S LACROSSE
The Tigers defeated Union, 26-9 in the Liberty League Semifinals on Friday, before falling to RPI, 15-14 in the Championship game Sunday.
In the win against Union, junior Clifford Gaston tallied four goals and seven points, while in Sunday's game graduate student Jake Erickson tallied four assists and six points.
RIT hosts Hope in the second round of the NCAA Tournament on Friday.
