Softball falls twice at Rochester, 6-0, 8-2, in Liberty League opener

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The RIT Softball team opened the Liberty League portion of the 2025 schedule with a pair of losses at Rochester, Friday, falling 6-0 and 8-2.
 
GAME 1 - ROCHESTER 6, RIT 0

  • Rochester plated a run in the first inning, three more in the third and another in the fourth for a 5-0 lead.
  • RIT put runners on second and third with two outs in the sixth inning on a hit by senior Maddy Cook and a double by senior Erin Ozminkowski, but couldn't capitalize.
  • Rochester plated an unearned run in the sixth to close the opening win. 

GAME 2 – ROCHESTER 8, RIT 2

  • Rochester opened the scoring with an unearned run in the second later built a 7-0 lead with two in the fourth and four in the fifth.
  • RIT scored both runs in the sixth. Ozminkowski drew a two-out walk and advanced to third on a double by sophomore Maria Minemier before sophomore Emma Merkley followed with a two-run single to right.
  • Rochester scored the final run of the game in the sixth to complete the sweep.

RIT returns home to host Geneseo on Tuesday (Apr. 8) for a doubleheader slated for a 3:00 p.m. start.
