Baseball splits doubleheader with St. Lawrence; falls, 4-0, wins 7-6
ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The RIT baseball team split a doubleheader at home against St. Lawrence, Friday.
GAME ONE – St. Lawrence 4, RIT 0
- The visiting Saints got on the board in the top of the third inning when Timothy Connor walked with bases loaded to force Mike Siano home.
- In the sixth inning, Siano bunted to earn a single before an error from Tigers' pitcher John Arnold allowed Owen McClintock to round third to make it a 2-0 ball game.
- Later in the sixth RIT committed another error to allow McClintock to score.
- St. Lawrence sealed the win in the ninth inning with an unearned run from Jack Finnigan off a throwing error by junior second baseman Jarin Moses.
GAME TWO – RIT 7, St. Lawrence 6
- Trailing St. Lawrence 6-0 in the bottom of the sixth inning, junior third baseman Charlie Slaymaker hit a solo home run over the left field fence to put the Tigers on the board.
- In the following inning, junior outfielder Jackson Rusiecki singled to drive in junior Caelen Kim to put the score at 6-2 in favor of the Saints.
- Later in the seventh, Moses hit a three-run homer to left field to cut the St. Lawrence lead to one run.
- Rusiecki added another RBI with a single to left center, allowing senior shortstop Randy Dodig to score the game-tying run.
- Slaymaker ended the game with a walk-off single to left center as Rusiecki scored the winning run for RIT.
UP NEXT
The Tigers will play St. Lawrence tomorrow (Mar. 29) at 10 a.m. in the final game of the series.
