Women's Soccer tops Wisconsin – Eau Claire, 2-1

WHEATON, Ill. – The RIT women's soccer team earned a 2-1 victory over Wisconsin–Eau Claire in a neutral-site matchup at Wheaton's Bob Baptista Invitational, Saturday.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Emma Donovan gave the Blugolds an early lead in the 8th minute, lofting a shot from the middle of the box into the top left corner.
  • First-year forward Addison Odle tied the game in the 33rd minute, intercepting a pass and firing a right-footed shot into the top right corner for her first career goal.
  • Bella Coccio, a first-year midfielder, netted the game-winner in the 43rd minute. After her initial shot was blocked, sophomore Daniella Malanga fought through defenders and tapped the ball back to Coccio, who finished the play for her first collegiate goal.

 
GAME NOTES

  • RIT improves to 2-0-2 on the season.
  • The tigers outshot UW-Eau Claire, 26-to-5, including a 12-3 advantage in shots on goal. The Tigers also held a 6-3 edge in corner kicks.
  • Malanga recorded her first assist of the season.
  • Senior goalkeeper Emily Sanchez earned her second win of the year in goal.
