RIT inducts second Chi Alpha Sigma class
ROCHESTER, N.Y. - The RIT Intercollegiate Athletics Department inducted its second class of student-athletes into the Chi Alpha Sigma Honor Society, Thursday afternoon, in a ceremony held in the Skalny Room.
This year's class of 15 inductees had a cumulative 3.84 grade point average.
Establishing the Alpha Rho chapter in 2022, Chi Alpha Sigma is the only national scholar-athlete society that celebrates four-year collegiate student-athletes who have excelled in both the classroom and in athletic competition.
Founded in 1996 and with 338 active chapters nationwide, Chi Alpha Sigma membership is an honor bestowed upon select student-athletes based on outstanding scholarship, athletic participation and excellent character/citizenship.
Criteria to be eligible to apply for Chi Alpha Sigma membership include:
- Achieving at least junior (3rd year) academic standing by the fifth semester as determined by RIT
- Achieving a minimum cumulative 3.4 (on a 4.0 scale) or equivalent grade point average by the time of the selection process.
- A recommendation from the head coach of his/her sport.
- Being of good moral character.
