Softball loses two at Geneseo; 5-2, 8-0 (6 inn.)

GENESEO, N.Y. – The RIT softball team lost both games of a doubleheader at Geneseo, Wednesday, falling 5-2, and 8-0 (6 inn.).

GAME ONE – Geneseo 5, RIT 2

  • Junior Maddy Cook got the Tigers on the board early with a double to right field that scored senior Elise Guth in the first inning
  • The Knights tied the game at one in the bottom of the second on an RBI single
  • Geneseo took a 2-1 lead on an RBI single to left field in the second inning
  • The Knights scored an additional run in the fourth on an RBI single
  • In the fifth, junior Lillian Rienstra singled and scored Guth, making it 3-2
  • The Knights hit a 2-run homer in the fifth, taking a 5-2 lead and victory over the Tigers

 
GAME TWO – Geneseo 8, RIT 0 (6 inn.)

  • After two scoreless innings from junior pitcher Lexi Pieri, the Knights took a 1-0 lead on an RBI single to left field in the third
  • Geneseo scored one more run in the fourth on a sacrifice fly to center
  • The Knights hit a home run in the fifth, increasing their lead to 3-0
  • Geneseo scored five runs in the sixth on two 2 RBI doubles and a 3 RBI double, taking a 8-0 victory
