Women's Soccer ties Trine in scoreless contest

WHEATON, Ill. – The RIT women's soccer team played to a 0-0 draw against Trine in the opening game of Wheaton's Bob Baptista Invitational on Friday afternoon.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED

  • In the 47th minute, Trine's Lilly White found herself in open space on the left side, managing to get a skimming shot on goal; however, RIT's senior goalkeeper Emily Sanchez was able to cover it up.
  • The Tigers had a pair of near misses in the second half, including a strike off the left woodwork by senior midfielder Sam Tran in the 72nd and a shot off the right post by junior midfielder Emma Pedro in the 76th minute.
  • Lindsay FordElena Onodera, and Amerie Mills each registered shots on goal in the first half, but Trine goalkeeper Madison Kinneer made three saves to keep the game scoreless.

 
GAME NOTES

  • RIT moves to 1-0-2 on the season.
  • Sanchez made three saves to preserve the shutout and now has 14 career shutouts. 
  • RIT held a 4-2 advantage in corner kicks and committed just six fouls in the match.
