Women’s Soccer loses at home to Vassar, 2-0
ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The RIT women's soccer team suffered its first loss of the season, falling 2-0 at home to Vassar, Saturday. Despite outshooting the Brewers 13-10, the Tigers were unable to find the back of the net.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Vassar opened the scoring in the 21st minute when Rebecca Rodriguez passed ahead to Sonya Franklin, who crossed to the back post for Riley McGrath to finish.
- Rodriguez doubled the lead for the Brewers in the 33rd minute, converting a penalty kick after a foul in the box.
- In the 50th minute, sophomore midfielder Valeria Luzio hit the crossbar with a shot.
- Just a minute later, in the 51st minute, senior forward Elena Onodera struck the right post.
GAME NOTES
- RIT held a 13-10 advantage in shots, including a 6-5 edge in the second half.
- Junior midfielder Lindsay Ford led RIT with two shots, including the team's only shot on goal.
- RIT dropped to 5-1-5 overall and 2-1-1 in Liberty League play.
