RIT Announces Athletics Hall of Fame Class of 2023

ROCHESTER, N.Y. - Executive Director of Athletics Jacqueline Nicholson announced the 2023 class to be inducted into the RIT Sports Hall of Fame. Former women's basketball standout Jessica Glaz '18 and the national champion 2011-12 women's hockey team comprise the 53rd class bestowed the honor. 

Planned in conjunction with Brick City Homecoming and Family Weekend, this year's induction ceremony will take place Saturday, October 14 at the DoubleTree by Hilton Rochester.

2011-12 Women's Hockey Team
The 2011-12 RIT Women's Hockey Team finished with a 28-1-1 record, punctuated by a 4-1 victory over Norwich in the NCAA Division III National Championship game. 

The Tigers started the season with 14-straight wins before going 0-1-1 in a pair of games at Plattsburgh in mid-January. RIT rebounded with nine-consecutive victories to clinch the top seed for the ECAC West Tournament, before defeating Potsdam, 6-1, in the semifinals and Plattsburgh, 2-1, in the championship to earn its second-consecutive conference title.   

After opening the NCAA Tournament with a 5-2 victory over visiting Concordia-Moorhead, host RIT defeated Plattsburgh, 2-1, in overtime to advance to face Norwich in the national championship game for the second-straight season.

Tied, 1-1, after 40 minutes of play, first-year (and current RIT women's hockey coach) forward Celeste Brown found the net 1:23 into the third period to ignite a three-goal run en route to the first national title in program history. 

Sophomore goaltender Laura Chamberlain was named NCAA Tournament Most Outstanding Player after totaling 27 saves in the title game along with 34 stops in the semifinal victory, while junior defensewoman Kristina Moss and sophomore forward Kourtney Kunichika joined her on the All-Tournament Team. Chamberlain finished the season with a 17-1-1 record while leading the nation with a 1.09 goals against average and a .945 save percentage.

RIT Women's Basketball all-time leading scorer Jessica Glaz finished her Tiger career with 1,502 points. Appearing in 110 games from 2014-2018, she averaged 13.7 points, including a program single-game record 37 during a 79-44 win over Bard (Feb. 17, 2018) on Senior Day.

Glaz also set program records with 220 career three-pointers and 510 career field goals, while finishing second in carer three-point percentage (.370) and single-season points (423), third in career free-throw percentage (.822), sixth in career free throws (262) and seventh in assists (272), steals (161) and career field goal percentage (.432).  

A three-time Liberty League all-star, Glaz landed first-team honors in 2015-16, before garnering back-to-back second-team recognition the next two seasons. She also landed Liberty League All-Rookie Team recognition in 2014-15 was named to the United States Basketball Writers Association Rochester Area NCAA Division II-III Basketball Team in 2017-18. 

Glaz was part of three-straight 20-win seasons as well as the program's first Liberty League title in 2016-17. She also helped guide the Tigers to back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances, including the program's first ever run to the Sweet 16 in 2018 on the way to a 23-7 record for the winningest season in program history.
