Men's track and field tied for fourth after day one of All-Atlantic Region Championship
ITHACA, NY - The RIT men's track and field team is currently tied for fourth out of 40 teams after Friday's action at the 2019 All-Atlantic Region Championship, from the Athletics and Events Center hosted by Ithaca College. Action continues Saturday morning at 10 a.m.
RIT has 17 team points to equal Rowan for fourth place. The College of Brockport leads with 31 points.
Otto Kingstedt and Evan Feigel combined for nine team points in the 5,000-meter run. Kingstedt finished fourth overall with a time of 14:58.92, while Feigel was just behind in fifth, crossing the finish line in 15:03.60.
RIT's 4 x 400-meter relay team of Christopher Callejo, Stephen Morrissey, Jeff Walter and Curtis Geiger earned a fifth-place finish, recording a time of 3:22.20.
Alberto Lafuente Veron finished fifth overall in the pole vault, clearing 4.57 meters. Thomas James also cleared 4.42 meters to finish in a tie for 11th.
Max Gloskey qualified for the finals of the 60-meter hurdles, crossing the finish line as the winner of heat three, recording a time of 8.33, which is the second fastest time overall. The final will take place Saturday at 10:30 a.m.
Matthew Funicelli earned a ninth-place finish in the shot put, firing it 14.17 meters.
