Women's Lacrosse loses 20-12 to Ithaca in Liberty League opener

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – RIT sophomore attack Serafina Kiselgof tallied four goals in the Tigers 20-12 loss to Ithaca in Saturday's Liberty League opener.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Junior midfielder Lily DePalma scored 1:46 into the first quarter to give RIT the lead.
  • Ithaca's Chloe Nordyke scored three of Ithaca's five straight goals, including one with 5:55 remaining in the quarter to give Ithaca a 5-1 lead.
  • Kiselgof scored with 5:23 remaining to cut the deficit to 5-2, but Sydney Phillips and Maizy Veitch scored back-to-back goals to give Ithaca a 7-2 lead.
  • Sophomore midfielder Bella Boardman, Kiselgof and senior attack Carrissa Hlywa scored three straight goals to begin the second quarter to cut the Ithaca lead to 7-5.
  • The Bombers scored four straight goals, taking an 11-5 lead on Veitch's goal with 1:04 remaining in the half.
  • Kiselgof tallied two straight goals early in the third quarter to cut the Bomber's lead to 11-7.
  • Maddie Hall tallied back-to-back goals to give Ithaca a 13-7 lead before Stephen scored off an assist from Kiselgof to make it a 13-8 game.
  • Caroline Wise scored late in the third to increase the Ithaca lead to 14-8.
  • DePalma and sophomore attack Adele Jones scored two straight goals early in the fourth quarter to cut the Ithaca lead to 14-10 on DePalma's goal with 12:48 to play.
  • Ithaca scored two straight goals to increase its lead to 16-10.
  • DePalma scored to cut the lead to 16-11, but Ithaca answered with three straight goals, taking a 19-11 lead on Elizabeth Green's goal with 4:30 remaining.
  • Jones scored with 3:48 remaining and Veitch scored with 1:56 to play to make it a 20-12 final.

 
GAME NOTES

  • Ithaca outshot RIT, 36-24.
  • Sophomore goalie Ellie Ruddy made four saves in net.
  • Stephen tallied a goal and a career-high three assists, while DePalma tied her career-high with three goals. Jones finished with two goals and an assist.
  • RIT went 12-of-16 on clearing attempts and won 22-of-36 draw controls.
