Track & Field Complex scoreboard dedicated to former coach Pete Todd
ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Members of the RIT cross country/track & field program gathered in Gordon Field House last Saturday to celebrate Hall of Fame coach Pete Todd and dedicate the new scoreboard at the RIT Track & Field Complex in his honor.
Affectionately nicknamed "The General," Todd guided the men's program from 1964-96, leading the Tigers to a 226-75 mark in cross country and 150-8 in track & field during his 32-year tenure. He mentored 49 All-Americans while his teams combined to win 31 Upper New York State championships. His cross country teams registered nine NCAA Division III Championship top-10 finishes, including a third-place showing in 1985.
"This honor is both fitting and well deserved as Pete Todd was a pivotal figure in the history and evolution of RIT and RIT Athletics," said former Executive Director of Athletics Lou Spiotti Jr. "His drive and commitment to the development of track & field and cross country was unparalleled, while his accomplishments are truly historic. Most importantly, Pete understood, served and supported his student-athletes as well as any coach I have ever known."
Hans Laudon '90, Don McGrath, Wayne Martin '82, Tom Militello '85 and Tim Ferris '78 led the fundraising efforts for the dedication.
