Softball falls twice at Clarkson, 7-6, 8-6
POTSDAM, N.Y. – The RIT Softball team fell to Clarkson in both games of a doubleheader, Friday.
GAME 1 – Clarkson 7, RIT 6 (10 inn.)
- The visiting Tigers opened the scoring with a pair of runs in the third inning. Senior Bailey Kehl singled to right field, driving in first-year Anna Cavotta before senior Maddy Cook tripled to bring Kehl home.
- RIT added three more runs in the fourth inning to take a 5-1 lead with senior Kristin Hino hitting a triple to allow senior Erin Ozminkowski to cross home plate to start the three-run inning.
- Clarkson rallied late in the game, scoring twice in the bottom of the sixth and seventh innings to take the game into extra innings.
- In the top of the 10th inning, first-year Sylvia White doubled, which drove in Ozminkowski to give the Tigers, a 6-5 lead. However, the Golden Knights tied the game in the bottom half of the inning before Clarkson's Kaya Johnson the winning run off a single from Zoey Kovach.
GAME 2 – Clarkson 8, RIT 6
- The Tigers scored four runs in the second inning, which was capped off with a single to center field by sophomore Emma Merkley that drove in Cavotta and Hino.
- RIT extended the lead in the third with a two-run double to left center from White, which brought in Cook and Ozminkowski.
- With RIT leading 6-1, the Golden Knights reeled off three runs in the bottom half of the third inning to cut the lead to two runs.
- In the fourth inning, Clarkson's Devin Fitzpatrick hit a grand slam to put the Golden Knights up by two runs and the eventual win.

The Tigers wrap up its North Country trip with two games at St. Lawrence on Saturday, April 12, at 1 and 3 p.m.
