Men's track and field places fifth at 2019 All-Atlantic Region Championship

ITHACA, NY - The RIT men's track and field finished fifth out of 40 teams at the 2019 All-Atlantic Region Championship, from the Athletics and Events Center hosted by Ithaca College on March 1-2.
 
RIT finished with 40 team points in the tightly contested competition. Rowan won the team event with 59 points, edging The College at Brockport and SUNY Geneseo.
 
On Saturday, Max Gloskey finished second by two one-hundredths of a second in the finals of the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.35 seconds. He had the second fastest time in yesterday's preliminaries with a time of 8.33 seconds.
 
Curtis Geiger recorded a strong third place finish in the 200-meters, hitting the wire in 22.43 seconds.
 
On the field side, Jeff Walter set a personal best in the high jump, placing fourth with a leap of 7.04 meters. Ethan Ettienne finished 11th overall in the weight throw with a toss of 15.76 meters.
 
The 4 x 200-meter relay of Gloskey, Stephen Morrissey, Walter and Geiger placed fifth overall with a time of 1:31.59.

Herlandt Lino placed tenth in the 3,000-meters, completing the event in 8:45.54.
 
On Friday, Otto Kingstedt and Evan Feigel combined for nine team points in the 5,000-meter run. Kingstedt finished fourth overall with a time of 14:58.92, while Feigel was just behind in fifth, crossing the finish line in 15:03.60.
 
RIT's 4 x 400-meter relay team of Christopher Callejo, Morrissey, Walter and Geiger earned a fifth-place finish, recording a time of 3:22.20.
 
Alberto Lafuente Veron finished fifth overall in the pole vault, clearing 4.57 meters. Thomas James also cleared 4.42 meters to finish in a tie for 11th. Matthew Funicelli earned a ninth-place finish in the shot put, firing it 14.17 meters.
 
The Tigers will await potential selections for the 2019 NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships. The 2019 championship takes place next weekend, March 8-9 from the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston, Mass.
