Two Tigers land Liberty League weekly honors

ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Two RIT student-athletes were honored by the Liberty League with weekly accolades, announced Monday (Sept. 30). Senior Sierra Danieu was named the Women's Cross Country Performer of the Week and sophomore Mia Gerber was the Women's Volleyball Performer of the Week.

Danieu finished 14th out of 255 runners to lead the women's cross country team to a third place finish at the Harry F. Anderson Invitational at Roberts Wesleyan, Saturday. Danieu was the top Division III runner, finishing the 5k course with a time of 18:08.4. RIT was the top-finishing Division III team, tallying 113 points.

Gerber averaged 3.67 kills per set during a 4-0 week for the Tigers, including two wins in their first two Liberty League matches of the season.  She started with 14 kills on .524 attacking in a 3-0 sweep at Nazareth on Tuesday before logging a four-set career-high 17 kills on .317 hitting in a 3-1 win at Skidmore, Friday. She also totaled a match-high 10 kills in a 3-0 sweep at St. Lawrence before adding 14 kills in a five-set comeback win over Plattsburgh on Saturday for her eighth-straight match with double-digit kills.
