Krbecek, Elfering land AHA Player of the Month honors

ROCHESTER, N.Y. - RIT sophomore Jakub Krbecek and first-year Caleb Elfering landed Atlantic Hockey America (AHA) Player of the Month honors, Monday. Krbecek was named the Goaltender of the Month, while Elfering landed Rookie of the Month honors.

Krbecek was recognized after compiling a 4-1-0 record in five October starts. He backstopped both ends of RIT's two game sweep of visiting Air Force (Oct. 24-25), including a season-high 39 saves (15 in the second period) during the 7-3 victory after stopping 21 of 22 shots the night before in a 5-1 win. Krbecek's first win of the season came via a 28-save effort in a 6-2 win over Clarkson (Oct. 18). He enters the week sixth nationally among qualifying goalies with a .945 save percentage and tied for seventh with a 1.50 goals against average.

Elfering is currently tied for third in the AHA among first-year players with five points on two goals and three assists. He totaled three points during the Air Force sweep, starting with an assist and two blocked shots in Friday's victory before adding a goal and two assists in Saturday's win to land AHA Rookie of the Week recognition. He also scored his first goal in a Tiger sweater during the homecoming victory over Clarkson.

RIT hosts AHA-rival Mercyhurst this Friday and Saturday (Nov. 10-11). Faceoffs are scheduled for 7:05 p.m. and 5:05 p.m., respectively.
