RIT Athletics Preview: Oct. 10-16
WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL (7-14, 2-2)
RIT split a pair of Liberty League matches last week, defeating St. Lawrence on Friday, 3-0 (25-8, 25-13, 25-11), before falling to Clarkson 3-1 (14-25, 25-23, 25-15, 25-15) on Saturday.
Sophomore outside hitter Live Benard led the way both nights with 16 kills on Friday and 19 on Saturday. Junior setter Sydney Neff totaled 27 assists and seven digs while junior defensive specialist Jessica Klein had a team-high eight digs and four service aces against the Saints. Junior libero Hailey Blxit added 16 digs in Saturday's setback to the Golden Knights.
RIT plays at home five times this week, hosting Liberty League-rival William Smith on Wednesday, and four games, Friday and Saturday as part of Brick City Weekend.

MEN'S SOCCER (4-4-3, 1-3)
The Tigers split a pair of matches last week, defeating Keuka on the road, 4-0, last Wednesday, before falling, 4-0, at home against Liberty League opponent St. Lawrence on Saturday.
Sophomore forward Jaden Winall Longdon matched his career-high with two goals against Keuka, while junior defender Patrick Kenyon and first-year defender Selorm Dake also scored. Senior defender Randy DIckersbach and sophomore midfielder Carlos Cardona earned assists in the win.
RIT looks to get back on track with two Liberty League home games this week, facing RPI on Friday and Skidmore on Saturday.

WOMEN'S SOCCER (7-2-2, 1-2-1)
The Tigers earned two victories last week, defeating St. John Fisher, 4-0, on Tuesday and St. Lawrence, 3-1, on Saturday.
Four Tigers scored a goal in Tuesday's victory – Sophomore forwards Sam Halligan and Emma Schock found the net in the first half, before first-year forwards Elena Onodera and Roberta Moger scored in the second.
Halligan scored a career-high five points in Saturday's win, scoring two goals in a five-minute stretch early in the second half, and later added an assist. Moger tallied in the 84th minute to put the game out of reach.
RIT continues Liberty League play this week with games at RPI and Skidmore on Friday and Saturday.

WOMEN'S HOCKEY (2-4-0)
The Tigers began their home schedule with two straight wins against Saint Michael's last Friday and Saturday.
RIT started with an 8-0 win on Friday, the most goals in a game for the RIT women since 2019. Junior forward Lindsay Maloney notched a career-high two goals as five Tigers had at least one goal. Sophomore goalie Sarah Coe made seven saves to earn her first shutout of the year and the fourth of her career.
The next day, RIT won 9-0, as sophomore forward Kylie Aquaro tallied a career-high five points on a goal and four assists, while sophomore forward Athena Vasdani tied her career-high with three points on a goal and two assists. The Tigers took a program-record 56 shots in the victory.
RIT heads to sixth-ranked Colgate for two games this Friday and Saturday.

WOMEN'S SWIMMING & DIVING (1-0)
The Tigers opened their season with a 164-135 win at RPI on Saturday. Senior KhaVy Sangasy won two individual events and added a leg to the winning 200 medley relay as RIT won seven events during the meet.
RIT hosts Alfred this Saturday in its first home meet of the season.

MEN'S SWIMMING & DIVING (1-0)
The men's swimming & diving team started its season with a 194-104 win at RPI on Saturday. Senior Brendan Kapp and junior Mike Atanasoff both won two individual events, accounting for four of RIT's 11 event victories.
RIT kicks off the home portion of its schedule this Saturday, hosting Alfred.

MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY
The Tigers won the Houghton Highlander Invitational on Saturday, placing first out of 10 teams. First-year Evan Owens led the way with a fourth-place finish out of 123 runners as RIT placed five runners in the top-12 for a 35-point team score.
RIT will race again on Saturday at the Canisius Alumni Classic.

WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY
The Tigers finished fifth out of nine teams at Houghton Highlander Invitational on Saturday. Senior Amelia Gilbert finished 13th out of 95 runners for the best finish by a Tiger. The team will race again next Saturday at the Canisius Alumni Classic.

MEN'S HOCKEY (2-1-0, 2-0-0)
The Tigers defeated Army, 3-2, on Friday and, 4-1, on Saturday, to open Atlantic Hockey play with a six-point weekend.
In Friday's home opener, junior defenseman Aiden Hansen-Bukata tallied a goal and an assist, including what proved to be the game-winning tally with 5:12 left in regulation. Junior forward Elijah Gonsalves was also credited with a goal and an assist.
On Saturday, sophomore forwards Carter Wilkie and Grady Hobbs both had a goal and an assist in the victory.
The Tigers host Union this Saturday in the annual Brick City Homecoming Game at the Blue Cross Arena in downtown Rochester.
