Women's Cross Country finishes third at Niagara Regionals

HOUGHTON, N.Y. - RIT graduate student Amelia Gilbert finishes 16th out of 145 runners to lead the women's cross country team to third place out of 20 teams at the NCAA Division III Niagara Region Championships, Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Gilbert finished the sixth-kilometer course with a time of 22:01.5, followed by senior Katie Cobos in 19th place with a time of 22:20.1
  • Junior Sierra Danieu placed 35th (22:46.4), while first-year Therese Georgia finished 37th (22:51.4) and first-year Rachael Ladd placed 46th (22:59.7)
  • Senior Sydney Burgard finished 54th with a time of 23:09.7, followed by first-year Eva Reilly in 71st (23:52.9)
  • Geneseo won the team title with 20 points, followed by NYU (53), RIT (153), Hamilton (161) and Ithaca (167) in the top-five.
  • Gilbert, Cobos and Danieu all earned All-Region recognition for placing in the top-35. 

WHAT'S NEXT
The full NCAA Division III Championships field, including team and individual at-large bids, will be announced on Sunday (Nov. 12). The championship race will be at Big Spring High School in Newville, Pennsylvania on Saturday (Nov. 18).
